“Diversity: Embracing Change” is the theme for this year’s Minority Lawyers’ Conference, held in association with BLD, at the Law Society’s Chancery Lane headquarters on Saturday 9 April. The keynote speaker will be the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve QC MP.
The conference, organised by the Law Society, the Bar Council and the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX), brings together Black Minority Ethnic (BME) lawyers and those with an interest in the promotion of racial diversity within the profession. The aim is to celebrate the achievements of BME lawyers within the profession, explore the issues that impact on them and develop a leadership agenda.
To recognise the outstanding work of BME lawyers there is also a prestigious awards ceremony, held the evening before the conference. Categories this year are: Against All Odds, Mentoring – Encouraging Minority Lawyers, Advocacy in the Face of Adversity, Diversity: Less Talk More Action and the new Embracing Change. Each entry will be judged by a panel, which will include the conference co-chairs Nwabueze Nwokolo and Sundeep Bhatia, Law Society Council Members for Ethnic Minorities. Applications close on Friday 4 March. To apply, please see this link: http://services.lawsociety.org.uk/events/node/53180
