News - John Roberts QC gets CBE

John Roberts QC was awarded a CBE for services to the administration of justice, diversity and to equal opportunities in the New Year Honours List for 2011.He became the first known person of African ancestry to: become Head of Chambers (1975), take silk (1988), be made a Recorder of the Crown Court (1987) and to be appointed by the British Government as a High Court Judge in The Supreme Courts of the British Virgin Islands and Anguilla, British West Indies (1992).John, who is now 82 and retired, was BLD’s Lawyer of the Month in October 2010 and had previously featured in 2008.
