News - News - College of Law to Award Law Degrees

12 May, 2006

In yet another shake-up of the Legal Practice Course (LPC), from September 2006 the College of Law becomes the first ever academic institution, not linked to a university that is able to award law degrees .

The College of Law is Europe's largest provider of further legal education. In sweeping changes the LPC (for students wishing to go on to train to become solicitors) has radically changed. Now those non-law students completing their Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and LPC will graduate with a law degree rather than a diploma. This of course puts the College of Law in an advantageous position over any other institution. This advantage may well however, be temporary as BPP Professional have also applied for the same status but the outcome may not be known for another year.
