Rising Success for Ethnic Minority Judicial Applicants
According to the latest statistics (December 2012) from the Judicial appointments Commission (JAC), 25% of the lawyers recommended for appointment as Deputy District Judges (Magistrates' Courts) were Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) which represents just over 50% increase in the success rate since 2009. 46% of those recommended were women. There were 1500 applications for the 28 posts.
