Trevor Faure, the Global General Counsel at Ernst & Young, will be the keynote speaker at a Black History Month (BHM) event to be held at The Law Society’s Chancery Lane headquarters on 6 October, 2011. Trevor, who has been described by The Times as“... one of a handful of dynamic, young lawyers who are transforming the legal market … clearly a pioneer”, oversees Ernst & Young’s 400 lawyers worldwide. The theme for the BHM event, held by BLD, is BMEs in the Law – Creating and Doing Business in the UK and Worldwide. Other confirmed speakers include Magdalene Bayim-Adomako, Head of Bank Finance at global law firm White & Case and Segun Osuntokun, of leading City law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner. The event will also see the launch of the 2011 edition of BLD’s ground-breaking Black Letter Law, which this year boasts two new sections – The Ones to Watch and Local and Global. Black Letter Law showcases the contribution and achievement of individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups within the legal profession – both past and present. Black Letter Law’s Editorial Director Debo Nwauzu, who is the Founder and Chair of BLD, has also introduced a digital version of the publication this year, which can be purchased like the paperback. The President of the Law Society of England and Wales, John Wotton said of the publication: “Black Letter Law is an inspirational source of information for young black and Asian people who aspire towards a legal career and rightly deserves its place as one of the most important current publications in highlighting and inspiring the next generation of lawyers from diverse backgrounds.” To book a place at the event please email Claire Boakes at BLDAdmin@onlinebld.com |
