News - Rabinder Singh QC becomes second BME High Court judge

Rabinder Singh QC has become Britain’s second ethnic minority High Court judge and the first Sikh to assume the role. Rabinder, aged 47, is a founder member at Matrix Chambers and is acknowledged as an expert advocate at all levels from the Employment Tribunal to the Supreme Court, the Privy Council, the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights. He was appointed as a Deputy High Court judge in 2003, becoming the first person of Asian origin and the youngest person, at 39, to sit in the High Court. The Honourable Mrs Justice Dobbs DBE became Britain’s first non-white High Court judge in 2004.
