10 Mar, 2011 |
Dawn Dixon has received the Eva Crawley Award from the Association of Women Solicitors (AWS) – its highest honour given for an outstanding contribution to the work of the Association and the advancement of women solicitors. The award was first presented to the late Eva Crawley in 1998 and Dawn is one of just four holders since. The honour comes hot on the heels of Dawn being named as one of Britain’s most influential black people in the Powerlist 2011.In 1998, she, together with Michael Webster, was the joint founder of Webster Dixon, one of the first wholly ethnic minority-owned City firms. She is a former national AWS Chair and was also the first London Region Chair from an ethnic minority background. After receiving the honour, Dawn said: “I am very honoured to receive this award from my peers. Although the Powerlist nomination was also unexpected, the Eva Crawley Award represents recognition for something I wanted to do, and still believe in, that is helping to ensure the AWS is essential for the success of each woman solicitor at each stage of her career.” |
